What does it cost?
It’s FREE!*
Do I have to register for Try Hockey for Free?
Yes, registration is required this season to allows us to properly plan equipment and staffing needs for the day.
What type of equipment is provided?
A full set of hockey gear, including a hockey helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin guards, hockey gloves, skates, a hockey stick and hockey jersey, will be provided for each participant to use during the event. Equipment provided is from the hockey association's rental fleet. The equipment is used and has been previously worn.
Are spectators allowed at this event?
Yes, spectators are allowed at this event. Spectators are asked to stay out of the player bench area. Please stand or sit in the bleacher area.
Are there age requirements for the event?
The program is designed for kids ages 4-9 but all ages are welcome. We strive to make hockey accessible to any kid in the greater Oshkosh area that wishes to play.
Do you need to know how to skate?
Skating experience is not needed!
When should we arrive?
The first 15-20 minutes will be dedicated to gearing up in hockey equipment. Then 30 minutes of ice time, followed by 10-15 minutes to get out of gear.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable athletic clothing. You will be moving around on the ice and you will be warmer than you think.
What should I bring to the event?
Please bring any of your own protective equipment that you wish to use. Equipment is provided but sometimes does not fit right.
My kid loved THFF, what's next?
Many kids who complete THFF events will register for one of our other Introductory programs.
